TENS OF THOUSANDS PROTEST AGAINST RISING MIGRATION IN SPAIN

Tens of thousands of people have reportedly filled the streets across Spain to protest against the growing number of migrants entering the country.

The demonstrations come after reports that nearly 72,000 migrants crossed from North Africa, particularly Morocco, and reached Spain’s Ceuta enclave in July.

Protesters opposed to the government’s migration policies are demanding the resignation of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, accusing his government of failing to control the country’s borders.

🇪🇸 Speaking on Thursday, Sánchez defended Spain’s approach, saying the country must welcome and assist people fleeing war and conflict.

He argued that it was wrong to treat migrants fleeing violence without compassion, saying people who have crossed borders to escape war should not simply be captured and forcibly pushed back without consideration for their humanitarian situation.

The issue of migration is becoming an increasingly divisive political debate in Spain, with growing public pressure on the government over border security and immigration policy.
