The projects, funded under the 2026 Constituency Development Funds (CDF), include the construction of Mwembezi and Chimunsi bridges, completion of a one by three classroom block and staff house at Tikondane Primary School and drilling and equipping of boreholes and installation of Mark II hand pumps.
The package also includes the provision of 20 bunk beds and 40 mattresses to Mng’omba Day Secondary School, construction of a fence at the new Sinda Civic Centre and a water scheme at Sinda Local Court.
Speaking during the contract signing ceremony at the new Civic Centre, Sinda Town Council Director of Human Resource and Administration Ernest Kalimbanya, who represented Council Secretary Mary Chongo, urged contractors to prioritise local employment.
Mr Kalimbanya said engaging local people will ensure communities directly benefit from the projects beyond the infrastructure being delivered.
He also warned contractors against exploiting local workers, stressing that employees should be paid fairly and promptly in accordance with the law.
Mr Kalimbanya challenged contractors to deliver quality works within agreed timelines and adhere strictly to required specifications and standards.
He further urged contractors to minimise environmental damage by avoiding unnecessary tree cutting and rehabilitating areas disturbed during construction.
The council has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that CDF projects meet required standards and translate into improved service delivery and socio-economic benefits for communities.
